Repertoire

For the audition or for the DVD in lieu of the audition

• Two opera arias, one in Italian, one in French or German
• One aria from Bach´s B Minor Mass. Sopranos: a Bach aria of your choice (Bach only if suitable to the voice type)
• One Lied by either Johannes Brahms or Robert Schumann
• One mélodie by Francis Poulenc or one song by Samuel Barber

For the six week residency

• Six opera arias total, of various styles and languages (one of the six arias may be an operetta aria, one must be an aria of the 20th century, one must be in German)
• Bach´s B minor Mass
• Soprano:
  • Christe eleison (Duet, soprano I AND soprano II – please learn both voices)
  • Laudamus te (if suitable to voice type)
  • Domine Deus (Duet, soprano I)
  • Et in unum Dominum (Duet, soprano I)
• Mezzo/Alto:
  • Laudamus te
  • Qui sedes ad dexteram Patris
  • Et in unum Dominum (Duet, alto)
  • Agnus Dei
• Tenor:
  • Domine Deus (Duet)
  • Benedictus

• Baritone/Bass-baritone:

  • Quoniam tu solus sanctus
  • Et in spiritum sanctum

  If Bach is not suitable for your voice type, it is not required.

• Four Lieder of Brahms and four Lieder of Schumann, including the Lied sung in the audition.
• Four mélodies by Francis Poulenc and four songs by Samuel Barber.
